Is the KJV the Word of God?

By pantsyfants

Yes, of course it is. And at the same time, NO; that’s silly.
“Forever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven” Psalm 119:89 We know this isn’t heaven because the politicians are still running things.   So whatever Book we have here, it’s not the one that’s settled in heaven. Forever?  That’s all of the past and all of the future.   But the KJV is only 400 years old.  Problem!
” . . . the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit and they are life.” John 6:63  Ok, but wait a minute: the Lord Jesus said this. Wasn’t He speaking in Hebrew? But the KJV is in English.    And which language did the Mighty God use when He wrote the name THE WORD OF GOD on the thigh of Jesus Christ? It’s getting complicated!
Maybe . . the Almighty God provided hard copy of His Word in English for those centuries when English was/is the international trade language.   Just as He provided it in Greek back when Greek coine was the international language.   And the Mighty Source Code, which is settled in heaven, is far beyond the reach of any of us descendants of Babel!
“I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.” Psalm 138:2    Something to consider, and compare to the concept of blaspheming the Name of God.  Since English is my native language, I’m glad to have this Book in English. I have found it to be more intricate and complex than fractals and more awesome than the Aurora Borealis. It isn’t a science text: but every scientific statement I’ve found in it is accurate. I am offended by the people who proclaim “The Bible says . . .” but never give the references so we can check on them. And I believe the Lord Jesus Christ is offended by those who claim to preach His Word, then pass the offering plate. “For the love of money is the root of all evil.” 1 Timothy 6:10
